Eric Church Shows Off New Broadway Bar In Nashville

Country star Eric Church just offered fans a first look at his new bar, Chief's, which is now under construction in Nashville. He showed off a glimpse of the entertainment venue and restaurant in a short video on Instagram.

Turn The Quiet Up

In the clip, an aerial view shows the six-story building, which was formerly home to Cotton Eyed Joe, laid with scaffolding. The video then illustrates the bar's transformation and shows a time-lapse clip of workers hoisting a large banner featuring Church's iconic aviator glasses and hat. The banner says "Turn the quiet up," a lyric from Church's song, Smoke a Little Smoke.

Perhaps most importantly, the video also indicates when fans should expect the bar to officially open. "Coming 2023," claims the video, after which a new banner is revealed that says, "Chief's." In the post itself, Church confirmed that Chief's would open on Broadway in Nashville next year.

Musical Chairs

Church first announced work on his new project in early 2022, when multiple outlets reported that Church co-owned the building at 200 Broadway along with Ben Weprin. Weprin's AJ Capital Partners purchased the location for $24.5 million in October of 2021. Previously, the country singer John Rich had owned the property. Rich currently owns Redneck Riviera Bar & BBQ on the same street in Nashville.

A Long Time Coming

When Church first revealed the news about the upcoming Chief's, he admitted that the act of owning his own bar on Nashville's famed Lower Broadway was actually a full-circle moment.

“I remember driving through downtown Nashville over 20 years ago with a pawn shop guitar, riding shotgun in a beat-to-hell truck just trying to chase a dream,” Church told the Tennessean. “Chief’s is the culmination of catching that dream."

A Little Something New

In addition to its six-story bar packed with drinks and frequented by live music, Chief's will boast a seated music venue, which is in fact rare for bars on Broadway. Chief's will also include an entire whole-hog BBQ restaurant curated by the award-winning chef Rodney Scott.

By owning Chief's, Church will be joining a slew of artists who have owned property in Downton Nashville. The other luminaries include Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, and Miranda Lambert.

As a bonus, Church has indicated another project in addition to his work on Chief's. Church will also soon have his own radio channel, Outsiders Radio, which will debut on November 4 on SiriusXM.
